Judy Silver Scholarship FundThrough the leadership of theatres and individual donors to the Judy Silver Scholarship Fund, students receive financial support to attend Theatre Ontario's Youth Scene Study Program. Scholarship funds make it possible for students to meet inspired youth and active theatre players. Students can apply for a Judy Silver Scholarship when registering for the Youth Scene Study Program held each year in June. About Judy Silver and the Scholarship FundJudy Silver wore many hats -- actor, writer, director, comedienne, teacher, mentor and friend. An exceptional person with extraordinary talent, Judy's work always demonstrated her deep respect and passion for the theatre. Her greatest pleasure and reward however, came out of working with young people. Possessing the rare gift to motivate and inspire young actors, Judy communicated and shared her love of the stage to her students as she transformed them into young professional theatre artists. Created in 1998, the Judy Silver Scholarship Fund was established in memory of Judy Silver by her friends and colleagues in order to support young people who wish to attend the Theatre Ontario's Youth Courses. In every class that Judy taught, there was always at least one deserving scholar who, not being able to afford the tuition, was invited to "come anyway." Following her example, this scholarship hopes to help as many young people as possible who want to attend the Theatre Ontario Camp but are unable to do so because of financial restrictions. Theatre Ontario is a registered charity. You can make a donation to the Judy Silver Scholarship Fund though CanadaHelps.org.
