Safety Guidelines for Live Performance in Ontario

The Ministry of Labour published the Safety Guidelines for Live Performance in Ontario, 3rd Edition in 2005.

Its purpose is to recommend safeguards and realistic procedures to educate, advise and protect workers and management in the live performance industry.  It was drafted by a cross section of technical and administrative representatives from the performing arts, government advisors, and experts in skills and procedures.

It includes information and recommendations, definitions, and guidelines for topics such as: hand props and costumes, orchestra pits, pyrotechnics, performers flying, rigging systems and fall arrest, sound levels and stage combat. 

The Safety Guidelines for Live Performance in Ontario are also available in a downloadable version. You can also find them on the Ministry of Labour's website. Included in this edition are guidelines for:
