Making your Pitch: Selling your Idea to a Producer
Tuesday December 12, 2017
6:30pm - 9:30pm
Suite 303 - Across the Hall from Theatre Ontario
401 Richmond Street West, Toronto
Do you have a musical theatre or play property that you would like to produce commercially?
Join us for an intimate evening with three of Toronto’s top commercial production executives; Aubrey Dan (Jersey Boys), Frank Scardino (Follies) and Peter W. Lamb (The Phantom of the Opera). Submit your play property to Theatre Ontario and we will give at least 4 applicants an opportunity to pitch their material to our accomplished panel. The panelists will provide constructive feedback on each of the finalists, sort of like the Dragon's Den, but without the financial commitment. There is also a chance for those interested to audit the process and experience the feedback of what commercial producers are looking for when mounting a production.
To be considered please submit a one-page summary of your idea or property to Theatre Ontario by December 6th, 2017.
Those selected will be required to provide the following for their 15-minute presentation:
- A one-page summary of your pitch
- Read and/or perform a segment of your property
Following the pitch there will be a discussion about:
- The panel’s experience in Commercial Musical theatre
- Budgeting for a commercial production
- Raising investment capital
- Marketing and publicity
After the discussion we invite all in attendance to remain for some wine and cheese where you will get an opportunity to talk and connect with our invited producers.
