Theatre Ontario’s Youth Advisory Committee Presents:

A day to share perspectives, knowledge and experiences while connecting, networking and collaborating. Learn about the YAC and how to get involved in next year’s committee!

Bridging the Gap provides an opportunity to leverage the wisdom and experience of multiple generations of theatre students, enthusiasts, and practitioners to create the future of theatre in Ontario together.

10:30am Forum Theatre Performance, facilitated by Simon Malbogat, Artistic Director, Mixed Company Theatre, and featuring Steve Bruines, Thea Fitz-James, Omar Hady, Sharon Ramirez, Luke Reece, and Janice Yang
12:00pm Keynote Address by Philip Akin, founding member/current Artistic Director of Obsidian Theatre Company
12:30pm Lunch
  • Workshop 1: "Education, Training and Experience" with William Webster, founding member/resident artist at Soulpepper Theatre, and Kerry Boileau, Program Coordinator, SKETCH
  • Workshop 2: "Access (and lack of access) to Resources" with Natasha Mytnowych, Managing Director, Artscape Youngplace, and Brian Postalian, Communications Manager, Paprika Festival

Theatre Ontario’s Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) is a youth-led, run, and facilitated start-up committee. We are concerned with fostering the next generation of theatre artists, practitioners, professionals, and patrons across the province, while trying to identify barriers to access and service gaps to youth engagement in theatre.
