Provincial Youth Forum

Developing Our Network

When: Monday, May 5, 2014
Where: 401 Richmond Street West, Toronto
Time: 1:00pm-9:00pm

On May 5th, 2014 during National Youth Arts Week (May 1st-7th, 2014), the Theatre Ontario Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) is inviting 15-20 youth from around the province to attend Theatre Ontario’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) for free professional development activities and to learn more about the work of Theatre Ontario and the YAC.

Who we are

Theatre Ontario’s Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) is a youth-led, run, and facilitated start-up committee. We are concerned with fostering the next generation of theatre artists, practitioners, professionals, and patrons across the province, while trying to identify barriers to access and service gaps to youth engagement in theatre.

What we will provide

We will be providing an afternoon of free workshops for the youth attendees and an opportunity for youth engaged in theatre to connect with each other and with established theatre professionals from around the province during the evening AGM.

Breakdown of events

1pm-5pm: Three workshops on topics including creating your own work, how to find resources in your community and networking in the theatre industry (full schedule TBD).
5pm-7pm: Break. Free time to meet other youth (meal will be provided)
7pm-10pm: The Theatre Ontario AGM, followed by an interactive event led by the YAC where both youth attendees and Theatre Ontario members will be able to participate. The night will conclude with a reception and awards ceremony where youth attendees will be given the chance to network with Theatre Ontario members. We will also be launching the new Theatre Ontario website and branding as part of the AGM!

Why you should be there

  • To connect with youth passionate about theatre from across the province
  • To get to know Theatre Ontario
  • To connect & network with theatre professionals from across the province
