Jane Carnwath

Jane has worked and taught in all aspects of the theatre. An MFA in Theatre from York University, she was Professor of Acting in the Music Theatre Program and Sheridan College for 10 years and for several years was Program Director of the Alumnae Theatre in Toronto.

Director: Among her recent credits: Jennie’s Story, Not Wanted on the Voyage, Midsummer Night’s Dream for Sheridan Music Theatre; The Gut Girls, After You, Pride & Prejudice, Hedda Gabler, Cosi, The Lady’s Not for Burning for the Alumnae Theatre, Toronto, as well as the premier production of Joan Burrows’ Willow Quartet.

Instructor: She works with community theatre groups as production consultant and workshop instructor in acting (scene study, classical text), and directing. For a number of years she taught a weeklong directing intensive at Theatre Ontario Summer Courses.

Adjudicator: Jane has adjudicated for WODL, EODL, QUONTA and ACT-CO, as well as Theatre Saskatchewan’s provincial festival and several student festivals. She’s adjudicated two Theatre Ontario Festivals: 2005 in Belleville, and 2011 in Richmond Hill.

Dramaturge: Jane continues to work with playwrights on new scripts, mainly through the Alumnae Theatre’s New Play Development Group.
