Paul Eck

Paul Eck has had an extensive career in arts management including The Grand Theatre (Theatre London), Orchestra London, Stratford Summer Music, Quinte Summer Music, Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra, Toronto Pops Orchestra at Massey Hall, the Theatres of Mississauga, Showplace Performing Arts Centre, Peterborough and the Peterborough Symphony Orchestra.  For eleven years, Eck was the Artistic Director of Everyman Players, a professional touring company devoted to the use of drama in social interaction.  For seven years Mr. Eck was the Executive Producer of Ontario Contact, a major showcasing and professional development program for the arts presenters of Ontario.  For the past 38 years, Eck has taught  the Ryerson University Theatre School, Toronto.  He has also taught at Humber College and has been on the faculties of the University of Toronto, Brock University, Confederation College and the Banff Centre.  Eck is an honorary life member of Theatre Ontario, an organization for which he was Board Chair for four years.  He chaired the Association of Cultural Executives of Canada for five years as well as working as an arts management consultant throughout Canada.  Current clients include Oakville Chamber Ensemble, Town of Oakville, Jubilee Toronto, the City of Barrie, Brantford Symphony and the Red Barn Theatre.  Eck completed his studies in the Theatre Program of York University and his Masters in Arts Administration at Harvard University.  In his creative career, Eck has directed some 630 scripts for companies throughout Canada and has toured in the United States with specific projects.  He frequently juries art exhibits.  He has been awarded the Queen’s Silver Jubilee Medal for his service to the Arts in Canada as well as two Volunteer Service Awards by the Province of Ontario.  He is an accredited member of the Theatre Ontario Adjudication Program which he also taught for several years.  During his time as manager of Meadowvale Theatre, Eck directed several musicals and plays.  He has adjudicated all regional theatre festivals as well as the Theatre Ontario Festival (3 times.)
