Devised Theatre for Intersectional Artists
with Sabah Haque

Sunday, August 4 to Friday, August 9, 2019

Queen's University

99 University Ave, Kingston, Ontario.

Devised Theatre and Performance is an intensive course for artists interested in developing skills in devised theatre, ensemble building, performance writing, dramaturgy, collective and individual creation, and performance.

Artists will be invited to collectively create devised work using found text, and then move into individual creation with each section ending in a presentation of the work followed by dramaturgical feedback from the ensemble. This course is an opportunity to practice performance creation skills and reflect on each stage of the process to empower artists to make creative and practical decisions that will serve their individual practice, develop new work, and nurture creative skills. The course welcomes artists who identify as intersectional and/or new generation at any stage in their artistic practice. This course is designed to be responsive to the creative goals of participating artists.
